DEMOCRAT FOR NEVADA ASSEMBLY DISTRICT 2
I’m running for Nevada State Assembly in District 2 to help my fellow Nevadans have a brighter and more sustainable future. As a 12 year resident of Nevada, small business owner, and community organizer I am proud to call Las Vegas and Summerlin home.

THE ISSUES I'M FOCUSING ON FOR THIS CAMPAIGN ARE ONES THAT I BELIEVE CAN HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO CREATE THE GREATEST POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE LIVES OF EVERY NEVADAN.
There are many issues that face working families in Southern Nevada that are also very important to me, including women's rights, equal pay, LGBT rights, supporting veterans, 15 minimum wage, universal healthcare, family medical leave, affordable tuition, social business, supporting local, immigration reform, campaign finance reform, drug policy reform, ending fracking, and protecting social security & medicare programs. My top issues are Education, Health & Nutrition, Business Innovation, and Sustainability.
Clark County School District is at an extremely important time on our path to improving education in Southern Nevada. Many new and innovative changes are being piloted in individual schools while some are happening district-wide. We have an unprecedented opportunity to help create proper reforms in our public and private school system to ensure that our schools have the best systems in place to help our students, teachers, and principals perform to their greatest potential. I will work to solve our teacher shortage challenges and help us improve our teacher training systems to ensure every child has access to the best quality education possible. I will also work to expand new innovative programs and project based learning systems that dramatically improve academic outcomes and get both students and families more actively involved in learning and our communities.
HEALTH & NUTRITION
We live in an age where the leading cause of death in our country comes not from violent individuals in our cities or abroad but instead from the food that we put in our mouths every day. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in both Nevada and the United States and is the cause of many other chronic and fatal diseases. The need for intelligent changes to our food system policies from seed to plate has never been more urgent. A new comprehensive approach to our local food system that addresses every aspect of how our food is created, delivered, processed, marketed, and consumed is required if we are ever going to make any real progress against this global health crisis which is needlessly costing our families and our economy billions of dollars a year in lost productivity and medical expenses. If elected I will create strong regulations to control and raise awareness about the most dangerous foods and ingredients which are at the root of our malnutrition and healthcare pandemic. I will also fight to increase the production, distribution, and affordability of fresh locally grown produce to help us grow our local economy, support local entrepreneurs, solve food insecurity, and make our city more resilient and sustainable.
Today Nevada is uniquely positioned to attract out-of-state businesses and build a diverse and robust economy, especially with the recent rapid growth of our technology, manufacturing, and renewable energy industries. In addition to attracting and building large-scale industry we also have the opportunity to create greater incentives and career pipelines for our local high school and college graduates to keep our best talent in our state to fill much needed jobs. If elected I will work to increase support and opportunities for local students by investing in new startup entrepreneurship and startup accelerator programs, and by helping our small business owners get the resources and knowledge they need to expand and create new jobs. I also will work hard to make Nevada a national leader in the renewable energy and green economy so that we can become an example that other states may follow for years to come.
As a city in the desert, sustainability is at the forefront of many people's minds with regards to water conservation, energy production & consumption, food production & distribution, and climate. It's important that we fully understand and appreciate the unique and sustainable gifts provided to us by our unique climate and geography in Las Vegas and be proactive leaders in the fast growing green economy. We can lead the fight to curb climate change, reduce our carbon footprint, protect our local water systems and public lands, adopt smarter residential development and city planning models, and modernize our approach to waste management. We need to recognize that the health of our water, soil, air, and ecological systems are an integral part of the health of our people and our city. My goal is to help every citizen, business, and government agency in Nevada understand how easy and profitable it can be to take the necessary steps to make our state a national leader in sustainability in the new emerging green economy.
