Britani is no stranger to hard work and determination. Growing up her parents often struggled to make ends meet. Her father is a self-employed artist and her mother has been disabled for many years. As a result, Britani has worked through a variety of challenges and obstacles, each one helping to mold her into the independent woman she is today. At the age of 13, Britani left home to move to Kansas so she could care for her recently widowed grandfather. While in high school, Britani had her oldest son and found herself in an unhealthy, abusive relationship with the child’s father. Faced with unexpected challenges, Britani worked even harder and focused on her goals, knowing that achieving those goals was now more important than ever. Britani has since graduated from Ottawa High School, earned three associate degrees, a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from Baker University, in the heart of the 2nd District, and is finishing her Master of Science in family financial planning. Throughout her education she has worked in a variety of fields including; childcare, retail management, mortuary science, case management, insurance, and financial consulting, all while raising a family. Britani owns her own financial consulting business with the goal of eliminating poverty in America. She also currently serves on the USD 290 Board of Education as well as numerous other community boards and committees. Britani currently lives in Ottawa with her husband of nine years, David, and is a proud mother of three sons, Lukas (11), Logan (9) and Reiden (2).
